Counseling & Mentoring
The Financial Counseling ministry involves working with individuals or couples who want to improve their financial situation or habits. We can help people in numerous areas, such as putting together budgets, designing strategies to pay off debts, deciding how much they can spend on a home, or planning for college or retirement. We are all stewards of God’s provision in our lives. In Christ, we are called to help people know how to please God in their financial dealings.
Looking to have a Better Marriage? Our team is passionate about walking alongside you and your spouse on the pathway toward health. We believe no matter where you are in your marital relationship, we can all have a better marriage.
Training and Classes
We offer classes twice a year to encourage marriages.
Annually we offer a Better Marriage Couples Retreat or Event – see www.better-marriage.com for event details.
Our team of trained mentor couples are willing to meet with you to discuss issues and help you learn tools to self-coach your way to a Better Marriage. This ministry has helped couples from pre-married to veteran marriages learn the secrets to healing and health.
Meeting up to three times to help people discover spiritual solutions to issues where they may have hang-ups. When needed referrals to ministries or counselors are given.
Many people get stuck in their spiritual growth plan or do not have a plan to move forward. Our team is willing to meet with those who need some coaching to help move towards Jesus again.
Resources & Recovery
In Matthew 21 Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” We want to encourage and support prayer within the body here at Northeast. We want people to develop an intimate relationship with God and each other. At Northeast, we desire to enlist, educate, equip and encourage our body here to devote themselves to prayer, knowing it is powerful and effective. Dependence on God through prayer is foundational to our church and we want to provide multiple opportunities for dependence on prayer to be fostered.
Life’s Healing Choices
We all have hurts, habits, and hang-ups. This 9-week study focuses on finding God’s pathway to wholeness, growth, spiritual maturity, joy and healing. Journey through eight choices on the road to recovery with a small group of men or women and find restoration — and hope! — in God’s truth for your life.
GriefShare is a special twelve-week support group designed to help you rebuild your life after losing a loved one. This group will be led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead.
Celebrate Recovery is a ministry to help people overcome their hurts, habits and hang-ups. It is for anyone who has ever been hurt or hurt someone else. The purpose is to help people grow in their relationship with Christ and get Jesus at the core of their being. For the most current updates please join our FaceBook Page.
CR COVID-19 UPDATE
CR Crisis Response (CRCR) – Online Share Groups:
For years, people have wanted us to have online share groups. For safety reasons, CR have always had a policy to say no to these requests. Unfortunately, with this crisis having face-to-face groups is not possible right now. In response to that, the Celebrate Recovery national team has launched Celebrate Recovery, Crisis Response for this period of time only. This can be a temporary solution for you still to be able to connect. As soon as we get through this pandemic, we will go back to face-to-face meetings only.
Here’s what they will look like at Northeast Christian Church:
The online groups will be gender-specific. We will initially have one men’s and one women’s share group and then go from there. These groups will be formed from our local CR and overseen by the Ministry Leader, Traci Davis.
These CRCR guidelines must be used every time. The leader may remove anyone who is not following the guidelines.
The CRCR guidelines are:
- Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Please limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes.
- There is NO cross talk please. Cross talk is when two people engage in a dialogue during the meeting. Each person sharing is free to express feelings without interruptions. This also includes digital chatting.
- We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” one another.
- Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.
- Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group.
- All members must use headphones. This will ensure that no one else can overhear what is shared in the group.
- All members must be on camera. If the group leader asked, they must show the rest of the group that no one else is in the room.
- The meetings will not be recorded.
- The meetings must use Zoom.
We are counting on you to keep these groups as safe as possible.
Note: if the internet is a trigger for you, if you have decided to not use the internet to protect your recovery, this meeting may not be for you. We encourage you to continue reaching out to your accountability partners and sponsor. If you don’t have one, please contact us.
As a leader or participant of these groups, you are responsible for protecting one another’s safety in the group.
We will be using Zoom.us and will send you a link once you have opted to be in a share group with one of our leaders or by calling the number below. We encourage you to download the software in advance and try it out so that we can spend the share group time sharing rather than troubleshooting. Using headphones and a webcam is compulsory. We will not accept dial in callers. You may use a computer, chromebook or phone. We recommend, if using a phone, to place it on a table propped up.
If you are new to Celebrate Recovery – you are very important to us and so is your recovery! If you have not attended a CR before, we ask that you call the number below or complete the online form, and one of our leaders will contact you to do a newcomers 101 Introduction to Celebrate Recovery. Then you will be able to join in a share group. (This 101 introduction may well be done with zoom, so feel free to acquaint yourself with it).
Remember, this will not be a Large Group meeting with teaching CR lessons. This will be a share group following the guidelines.
The Celebrate Recovery national team will be online every Monday-Friday night at 8:00 pm central time with devotionals and encouragement from your CR National Leaders, so please tune into that for encouragement – CLICK HERE. We will also be posting encouragement & testimonies on our own Northeast CR Facebook Page.
The Skit Guys have launched a website with a nightly livestream of them telling a “Bedtime Bible Story”. This could be a good resource to use as a family. https://skitguys.com/sgtv
Please connect with your accountability partners & your sponsors during this time!
If you need prayer or if you want to opt into a share group contact one of our leaders or call the number below, leave a message and someone will call you back.

Compassion & Visitation
There are certain times when people need both financial help and encouragement during a difficult time. The direct care team exists to evaluate and assist in such situations. In Christ, we are called to come alongside, encourage and assist people who are struggling through a difficult situation in their life. This team can direct you to available community resources for employment, housing, food, medical, mental health, and other services.
Emergency Response Team
We help people who are going through natural disasters, emergency crisis situations, or catastrophic loss. Northeast is a preapproved Lighthouse Church with Samaritan’s Purse, a nationwide disaster relief ministry. If a tragedy hit Winnebago County, we are ready to open our doors and welcome workers here.
Hands and Feet – many people from this team have a heart to help people in need when requested with things like yard work, painting, or minor repairs.
If you have a loved one in the county jail, we have access to visit them and care for them.
The Barnabas Ministry is a ministry of encouragement, a method of connecting those who are no longer able to attend Northeast, either as shut-ins or temporarily because of illness.
Our team visits people who are in the hospital to encourage them and give them the hope of God’s Word. Our team is glad to meet people before a procedure to pray with them or in an emergency situation as well.
Cancer Conquers – Cancer Support Group
If you have cancer, we have trained cancer care ministers available to walk the difficult path to healing. There is a Cancer Support Group which meets on the second Saturday of the month at 9am.
International Ministry Team
We welcome people from other countries and help support their transition to America. Our team has a passion for those who have been called away from their homelands to live as sojourners in a new place. They are intimately involved in helping the Internationals understand our culture and how our society functions, this is key to their success.
English as a Second Language
Northeast offers free English classes for adult English learners three times per year, and each session is open year-round, so you can join at any time.
